PHONE CALLS FROM DEAD ANIMALS

The Brazilian medium Sonia Rinaldi is among those who’ve been able to communicate via electronic means not just with dead humans but also with dead pets. In an article titled “ITC Contacts with Animals?” in the August 2008 issue of Instrumental TransCommunication Journal, Anabela Cardoso offers a roundup of various stories of human/animal ITC, including Rinaldi’s own account of ITC contacts with a deceased parrot named Lorinho. Cardoso notes that she herself “heard some of the audio files containing the communications … and I can testify that I could easily understand most of the speech transcriptions that Sonia has sent me, together with the audio clips, pronounced in what sounded like a parrot’s voice speaking in Portuguese.”

Cardoso’s own ITC contacts are with her “beloved deceased Doberman dogs”—and, indeed, dogs seem to be the deceased pets most often communicated with. One big communication advantage dead animals have over living ones is that they’re apparently able, as implied above, to speak in the appropriate human language.
